Applicants must:
Have earned a bachelor's degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher from an accredited institution of higher education. Upon application to the program, a student's transcripts will be evaluated for appropriate liberal arts and sciences and content core coursework required by NYSED Section 52.21. See information below. Applicants must submit proof of passing the NYSTCE Liberal Arts and Science Test (L.A.S.T.). See information below.
Three letters of reference from faculty/professionals attesting not only to the academic readiness of the applicant but also to his/her readiness to teach children.
Participate successfully in a structured interview with program faculty.
Achieve a satisfactory rating on an in-person writing sample (taken the same day as the interview).

300-500 word essay describing the business venture the student will develop and work on during the program.
Note: New York State Public Health Law 2165 requires college students to show protection against measles, mumps and rubella. Persons born on or after January 1,1957 must present their complete immunization records prior to registration.
Applicants may have to come in for an individual interview. If so, we will contact you for an appointment.

Research options for financing your education
Go to the Financial Aid Section of the MCNY website. Visit www.fafsa.ed.gov and complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online. Our FAFSA school code is 009769. Contact MCNY’s Office of Financial Aid if you need help with the application or have any questions about financial aid. You can obtain information about scholarships that may be available to you at www.fastweb.com .
(NOTE: International students are advised to apply well before the beginning of a term to allow time for visa processing.)
Before Applying: Get Your Application in Order
Work on your application.
Request transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate schools you have attended.

Start writing your application essay.
If necessary, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
Note: You can request to have your TOEFL score report sent directly to MCNY by requesting ETS send those scores to score recipient number 2157 MCNY (formerly Audrey Cohen College).
This will allow you to evaluate your performance and potentially take the tests again to ensure your most competitive scores.
Ask two people to write letters of recommendation.

If the student's GPA is lower than 3.2, Official score report of the Graduate Record Exam (G.R.E.) is recommended.
* This step is required only for General MPA students.
An interview may be required as a possible admissions requirement for all applicants.
In addition to the above, applicants for admission to the Master of Public Administration in Emergency and Disaster Management must present evidence of successful completion (C or better) of an undergraduate course in statistics. (Applicants missing this requirement will be required to take an undergraduate statistics course at MCNY alongside of their first semester’s coursework).
Prior to enrolling, MPA in Emergency and Disaster Management students must submit evidence that he/she has completed and passed two free FEMA classes (10 hours ) which are self-paced and offered online. Further details are available from your graduate admission counselor.
