Welcome to MCNY’s Admissions Blog!

by

My name is Steven Lenhart and I’m the Dean of Enrollment Services here at MCNY.

We are developing this blog to share with you more about the school, our programs, our students…and to hear from you…help you figure out whether MCNY is the right fit, answer your questions, and address your concerns.

I’ve been with Metropolitan College of New York for over 20 years – it’s an extraordinary school and I feel very passionate about what we do here. What I find so outstanding about MCNY is that, unlike most other institutions of higher learning where so much of the curriculum is theoretical and has no basis in the real world (but the promise is there that one day the learning will prove to be relevant), at MCNY what you learn tonight, you will use on the job tomorrow.

We have created a learning environment where what is learned is entirely relevant and practical and efficient. The focus of learning is on you, your personal and professional growth and development and on making you competitive in the workplace.

One of my goals is just to make sure we can communicate as fluidly and transparently as possible. If you have any topics you’d like to hear about feel free to email me directly at slenhart@mcny.edu.

The entire Admissions Staff will be contributing to this effort – so here’s a big shout out to the group and many thanks, in advance, for your help.

Hi, I’m interested in joining your Graduate Program for Spring 2010. Can I make it for Spring, what should I do? and my score is GPA 2.98. Do I need GMAT?

  2. Olga Says:

Does one need to take GMAT in order to be admitted into the MBA program?

  3. Steven Lenhart Says:

    Hi Olga,
The GMAT is only required if your grade point average is less than a 3.0.

    Hope this helps.

    Steven Lenhart

  4. Parag Kamthan Says:

    Dear Steven,
What is the basic criteria for taking admission into full time MBA in Media Management at MCNY for International students?

  5. Steven Lenhart Says:

    Dear Parag,
We require official college transcripts, two recommendation letters, an essay on WHat I hope to gain from my MBA in Media Management. Proof of Immunizations for measles, mumps and rubella.
Financial documentation ( $39,400.) If English is not your native language, TOEFL or IELTS results — check the international section of the website.

    Best wishes,

    Steven Lenhart

    hi,
my gpa is 3.85. do i need not to do gmat at all after i get admission?

  7. MCNY Admissions Blog Says:

    Hi Kriti,
I don’t know if you read the previous comment above, but the GMAT is not required if your GPA is above a 3.0.

Please let us know if you have any other questions about the MBA program.

  8. Adam Says:

Hi, I am currently a junior attending the University of New Mexico majoring in Mass Communications with a concentration in Advertising and minor in Media Arts. I am a semester ahead of schedule so I will be a senior this spring but, I will still graduate in May of 2011. I’m interested in MCNY because of your Media management MBA and because of the diverse makeup of the school. As an African-American male diversity in a college is important to me for comfortably. Currently I am a 3.15 student but plan on having around a 3.3 by the time I apply. What I would like to know is if I have a chance of getting accepted.

  9. Steven Lenhart Says:

You are just a hair below where we would waive the GMAT, Tell you what, write a great essay on what it is that you hope to gain by enrolling in one of MCNY’s graduate programs (specifically the program for which you are applying. Then send us some solid professional references.
    Hope that helps.
Look forward to meeting you, Leah!
    Best wishes,
    Steven Lenhart
    Dean of Enrollment Services

  10. Daniel Says:

I am interested in joining MCNY, what’s my chances in getting accepted for Spring in MBA? a lot of people asking about media management, is there hope to get a placement?

  11. Steven Lenhart Says:

    Daniel,
This is the time you should be finalizing your application in order to gain admission for spring 2010 Media Management classes.
By placement I assume you are interested in an internship or other type of cooperative program while enrolled. I can’t guarantee that but I can say that in all likelihood you will be networking (with current MBA Media CLassmates and Faculty) who have immediate connections throughout the media world.

    Hope this is helpful!
