Learning Commons

This brand new addition  learner-focused dynamic space integrates comprehensive learning supports in one space. A focal point of the MCNY Manhattan and Bronx campus, each state-of-the-art building houses our Office of Academic Support and Library, integrating extra- and co-curricular resources, activities and support into one convenient resource for the entire MCNY community.

The Learning Commons’ holistic approach to student support, teamwork and engagement:

  • Enhances research, teaching and learning.

  • Cultivates self-efficacy and creativity.

  • Melds curriculum support and student culture.

  • Facilitates greater interaction and communication between MCNY students, library and academic support staff and faculty.

First Year Experience

The First Year Experience (FYE) connects MCNY’s newest students to the people, programs and resources necessary to provide a strong foundation for academic success and personal growth.

Designed to help first-year students make a smooth transition into MCNY, the FYE program seeks to help foster a socially inclusive and diverse academic environment through curricular and co-curricular opportunities that address the social, emotional and academic needs of our undergraduate Purpose 1–3 and first-term transfer students.

At MCNY, we recognize the importance of strengthening the student connection to the College and laying the foundation for student success during the first year. We are here to help our newest undergraduates, both freshmen and transfer students, transition into the intellectual, social and cultural community of MCNY.
