MCNY 3rd Annual Short Film Festival Poster

Metropolitan College of New York School for Business Media Management MBA Program will be presenting the MCNY 4th Annual Short Film Festival April 4 – 5, 2013, organized, developed and produced by its Media Management MBA students to celebrate short films, filmmakers and the business of film.  This year’s theme is “Reflections of a Dream.”  For the First year, the Festival is putting a call out to student artists and graphic designers for our annual festival poster artwork. Students, Student Artists and Student Designers are encouraged to submit work for the Film Festival Poster Competition by close of business March 18, 2013.

Late submissions will NOT be accepted.

Guidelines: The competition is open to all student artists and graphic designers; you must have an .edu email address to enter a submission. All submissions must be received by the deadline of close of business on March 18, 2013.  Entries will only be accepted from individuals who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate school. No additional prize money will be awarded.

We are looking for images that celebrate Short Film, Filmmakers and the business of film in an interesting, relevant and visually innovative way that avoids stereotypes and clichés. This year’s theme for our Film Festival is “Reflections of a Dream”.  Entries will be judged using the following criteria:

*Overall impact of the display for eye-catching appeal, visual attractiveness, and its ability to draw the viewer in;

*Clarity of the message’s demonstration of Short Film/film festival;

*Appropriateness of the graphics for the festival;

*Creativity;

Entries must be submitted as a high-resolution jpeg file

In the artwork, you must include “MCNY 4th Annual Short Film Festival, April 4-5, 2013” “School for Business Media Management MBA Program” and the unaltered MCNY logos (which will be provided upon successful registration by emailing MediaManagement@mcny.edu) and the festival theme “Reflections of a Dream.”  Entries may be in the form of photography, painting, graphic art, and illustration, in color or black and white. The design must be simultaneously provided in a high resolution jpeg file so that it is easy to translate into a range of online and print materials such as 24×36 posters, newsprint ads, t-shirts, film, street banners, bus advertisements, etc.

Each person must provide the information requested below and agree to the terms and conditions in order to submit. All submissions will be judged based on content, appeal and marketability. The decisions of the judges will be final. MCNY does not take on liability for submissions.  All submissions become the shared property of the artist and MCNY. By submitting an entry, the entrant agrees that MCNY has permission to use the image for purposes including, but not limited to:  slides, brochures, advertisements, display, t-shirts, souvenir programs, festival badges & tickets, websites, postcards, etc.

Copyrighted material: Material that is not original or the property of the artist is prohibited.

If your poster design is selected, you will win USD$250 and your design will contribute the look of the Festival by appearing on Festival posters, postcards, program, invitations, and much more, providing significant and immeasurable exposure to your artwork/design. Finalists will be announced by March 23, and the winning poster will be revealed by the end of that month (March 29, 2013) in New York, NY. All posters that advance to the final round will be exhibited during the 2013 MCNY 4th Annual Short Film Festival, April 4-5, 2013.
