Education: Investing in Your Future
When it comes to increasing your earning power and job security, your education is the best investment in your future that you can make.
New York Higher Education Loan Program
Available for the Spring 2010 Semester, NYHELPs will help New York State students and family bridge the gap between college costs and State and federal student aid.
The first step in figuring out how much you will need is to estimate how much your education will cost. When you consider the cost of your education, you will want to include both:
Your Estimated Contribution
This is a free service and does not provide exact numbers. It is only an estimate of how much you may be able to receive and how much you might need to contribute.
Be prepared to answer questions about your income and financial status. It is helpful to go to this site before you visit the MCNY's Office of Student Financial Services. Print out your calculated results and save them for your meeting with your Student Financial Services Counselor.
Financial need is determined by subtracting your EFC from the total estimated educational budget.
If you are concerned about paying your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) dont worry, that's where financial aid can help. There is even a program to defer payment. At MCNY, we do everything we can to help you obtain your degree, with minimal "out-of-pocket" expense.
You can find out approximately how much financial aid you will need by logging on to www.finaid.org/calculators/finaidestimate.phtml. This is a free service and provides an estimate of how much you may be able to receive and how much you might need to contribute.
