- Comments Off on MCNY’s School for Business Earns Specialized Business Accreditation from ASBSP
Continuing its longstanding commitment to excellence and progression, Metropolitan College of New York’s School for Business is pleased to announce that its School for Business has earned specialized business accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), effective November 19, 2012.
The accreditation status of MCNY’s School for Business demonstrates that it has met all of the standards required to receive initial accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs.
The ACBSP Board of Commissioners has granted their approval for the School is programs in Associate of Science in Business, Bachelor of Business Administration, and Masters of Business Administration in Media Management, Financial Services, and General Management. The School was cited for its effective curriculum design model of Purpose-Centered Education with a student focus. Moreover, the full-time and part-time faculty, alumni and robust Business Advisory Board were credited as real strengths for the School for Business.

Our students and alumni can take pride in knowing that the education they received at MCNY’s School for Business, has met the gold standard for value and quality. Our faculty should be proud of the fact that they have demonstrated through their hard work, a commitment to excellence in teaching and continuous improvement,” said Dr. Tilokie Depoo, Dean of the School for Business.
“The full time staff and faculty members were an integral part of the accreditation process for the last two years,” said Dean Depoo. The team members include: Ms. Davinder Kaur, Program Coordinator for Undergraduate General Business, Mr. Ralph Leal, Dean Emeritus, Mr. Solomon Appel, Assistant Professor, Dr. Mohammad Bajwa, Associate Professor, Dr. David Rosner, Assistant Professor, Ms. Kristie Velasco, Program Coordinator for MBA Media Management Dr. Rachel Yager, Associate Professor, and Dr. Faye Ran, Professor.
“MCNY has been offering innovative business programs since 1983, with a focus on practical application and giving students the tools they need to change the world in positive ways. “, said Dr. Vinton Thompson, President of MCNY. “ACBSP accreditation is an affirmation of our mission, our faculty and staff, our students and our program. We continue our commitment to serving New York City and the world through effective business programs that graduate leaders and agents of change.”
ACBSP accreditation has several benefits that reach beyond the institution and include students and alumni, faculty and staff, and the community at large. The MCNY School for Business has demonstrated its commitment to continuous improvement in the area of higher education and maintaining quality to enhance student learning. The ACBSP website states that, “The pursuit of accreditation enhances the ability to serve students by assuring a focus on quality performance. Accredited status requires an ongoing effort to provide excellent equipment, software, and learning resources for students.” The School for Business at MCNY has achieved this esteemed standard in higher education, and will maintain the integrity and quality of its educational model going forward to serve the community.
MCNY will formally receive its accreditation award during the ACBSP Annual Conference in June of 2013.
