About this Program

The Associate of Arts and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Emergency Management and Business Continuity (EMBC) are designed to prepare students for exciting careers in two industries:

  1. Emergency Management - the discipline of effectively coordinating available resources in planning for, responding to, recovering from, and mitigating the threat caused by crisis. And/OR-
  2. Business Continuity - the practice of planning in order to mitigate the loss of life, property, brand and customer good will, operational capability, market share, and management credibility, following the impact of a natural, man-made, or technological disaster.

These degree programs will meet the professional development needs of individuals who would like to advance their existing careers or pursue new careers within homeland security, emergency management, business continuity, disaster recovery, project management, and international humanitarian emergency response. The EMBC degrees are designed to meet the needs of those individuals seeking a career change who do not currently have a degree; and for high school graduates looking to enter this growing new industry.

For those seeking careers as first responders, the EMBC degrees provide the 60 credit hours required for admission to the NYPD Police Academy or the FDNY Fire Academy.

With a faculty consisting of working professionals in the Emergency Management field our students learn the best practices from leaders who deal with disasters on a daily basis.

These programs are tailored to provide students with foundational general education courses and a broad exposure to comprehensive Emergency Management and Business Continuity, which can lead to private or public sector employment.
