International Student Services
MCNY's international student population experiences a unique opportunity to study Purpose-Centered Education in an intimate community while living in the largest city in the United States. We provide a full-time academic advisor to help international students understand the college's curriculum while students acclimate to student life in the US. Additionally, New York City offers a multitude of cultural events and diversity to enhance students' experiences while they are studying in the US.
Message from the International Coordinator
Welcome to Metropolitan College of New York! Every international student brings personal experiences from home and enlightens our community. In conjunction to working with you one on one throughout your entire program, you are invited to join me on exclusive trips to explore New York City and learn about United States history. I look forward to providing you with an exceptional educational experience while helping you succeed throughout your academic career.
Description of Services
We offer a comprehensive support system for international students that include resources for academic advisement, housing, insurance, international student loans, cultural institutions, as well as an International Awareness Club. We also provide special events and skills workshops geared towards addressing the unique needs of the international students.
Optional Practical Training, Post Completion
Optional Practical Training (OPT) is temporary employment that is directly related to an F-1 student's major area of study. An F-1 student could be authorized to receive up to a total of 12 months of post-completion practical training after completion of studies.
An F-1 student may be authorized by USCIS to participate in post-completion OPT upon completion of studies. The post-completion OPT must be directly related to the student's major area of study. You may use OPT after completion of an Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree and Graduate Degree.
Please make sure that you discuss your OPT options with your DSO in your last semester of the program as early as possible.
