Marvelous, Torturous Marshmallows

Mischel’s well-known study invited children to refuse a marshmallow with the prospect that successful resisting would mean two marshmallows later! The results lead us to consider – somewhat controversially – the nature of willpower. Is it learned? Is it innate? A mix?
