office of student services

All students who receive any type of financial aid, including grants, loans and scholarships, must file a new Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You can follow this link to get started. File Early!! In some cases a FAFSA can be processed in one to two weeks, but because of complex federal requirements, it may take longer. We also recommend that you double check all of your information before submitting your FAFSA because even minor errors can delay your award. If you do not already have a PIN, applying for one online at will also save you some time. With a PIN you can complete your entire application online.

You can also apply for New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) when filling out FAFSA. For exact instructions please visit this page.

Before you register, we strongly encourage you to log on to Self-Service to view your academic record. Once you've logged in, go to "Degree Requirements" to view the courses that you've completed and the ones that you still need to take to complete your degree. This is the surest way to make sure that you're on track, following the specific requirements of your program. You can also check your grades, grade point average and general academic status in Self-Service.

When you log on to Self-Service you may also see a "STOP" in your record. Stops are generally put in place when you have an administrative or academic issue that you need to resolve. Many Stops block registration. If you have a Stop, you must contact the office that placed it on your record to determine how you can resolve it. Stops can be placed for many reasons; refer to this list of common Stops to determine why you have the Stop and which office you need to contact:

STOP Reason Office to Contact
MMR Complete proof of vaccination for mumps, measles and rubella has not yet been submitted. Admissions, ext. 5001
Transcript The College has not received an official transcript from a previous school that you attended (high school or other college, whichever is applicable) Admissions, ext. 5001
Bursar You have an outstanding bill with the College. Bursar, ext. 5002

Student Services, ext. 5009
FAFSA Complete FAFSA for future academic year Financial Aid, ext. 5004

By taking these steps, you will empower yourself and take charge of your education. You will be better prepared to both meet with your Advisor and take advantage of our online registration process. Remember to keep checking your emails and regular mail.
