Don’t just serve the public—become a true leader—with an MPA in Public Affairs and Administration (MPA-PAA) degree from MCNY. In this program, you’ll be challenged to be a problem solver, policy analyst, and an engaged citizen of New York City’s dynamic metropolitan area. The mission of MCNY’s Master of Public Administration program in public affairs and administration is to educate those who are or will be leaders and administrators of public and nonprofit organizations in New York City and its metropolitan area. The program emphasizes the following public service values:

Purposefulness:
use knowledge and skill to achieve a purpose in public or nonprofit organizations
Practicality:
solve problems through Constructive Action
Integration:
unite theory and practice; classroom, workplace, and community
Inclusiveness:
include students, citizens, supervisors, and faculty in the determination of need
Equity:
deliver services according to need

This program will allow you to

  • Spend each semester concentrating on an area essential to building leadership careers in public service.

  • Use your internship or job as a laboratory to apply learning to create a systematic enhancement in the delivery of services to the organization. You earn credit for these hours, so you can work part-time or full-time while attending classes full-time.

  • Benefit from on-site experience and practical knowledge through Constructive Action by providing a hands-on, problem-solving approach to the particular needs of your organization.

  • Learn in a program designed for working professionals with some related experience in a public agency, not-for-profit or profitmaking setting and delivered based on the industry’s best practices. MCNY is an active member of the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA).

  • Leverage networking opportunities with faculty, alumni and other business leaders.
