What is FERPA?
The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act, commonly referred to as FERPA, is a federal law that
- permits students to inspect their education records,
- limits disclosure to others of personally-identifiable information from education records without the student’s prior written consent, and
- provides students the opportunity to review and seek correction of their education records where appropriate.
