Can a Student Prevent the Release of His or Her Directory Information?
Yes. A currently enrolled student may request that his or her directory information not be released by filing an opt-out form with the Office of the Registrar. Students who have made such a request will be indicated as “No Release” in the people_release_info field in Power Campus. No information, including Directory Information, may be released for such a student without the student’s written consent.
The fact that the College MAY release Directory Information does not mean that it MUST release Directory Information. As a general practice, MCNY does not release student Directory Information, even when permitted under FERPA.
