Metropolitan College of New York, a non-profit, regionally accredited college offering associate, bachelors and Masters Degrees, with campuses in Manhattan and in the Bronx, seeks a full-time Coordinator of Academic Engagement in the Student Services Department. The Coordinator will report to the Dean of Students to strengthen the department’s ability to provide support for at-risk students.

Primary responsibilities 

Assist in student engagement and retention-focused programmatic initiatives; support outreach and tracking of students on Financial Aid SAP Warning/Probation and all at-risk students; work one-on-one as liaison for students facing challenges which can lead to academic probation and/or loss of financial aid eligibility; collaborate with other student support staff and faculty for a holistic student support approach. Foster strong, collaborative working relationships with other student support staff, faculty, and students in support of student success initiatives. Collect and track retention data.

Minimum requirements

Master’s degree in higher education, social work, counseling or related fields preferred, plus 2 years administrative experience in Higher Education. Additional qualifications: familiarity with educational technology and information systems (experience with PowerCampus and Early Alert Systems preferred); The candidate must also have the ability to interpret data to support the assessment of institutional retention data.  Must be a self-starter with demonstrated ability to handle projects from start to finish, reach out and engage students, and ability to work well as part of a team to support the unit’s goals. Must be willing to work some weekends and evenings and travel between campuses.  Proficient with Microsoft Office, and advanced Excel skills.
