MCNY seeks an experienced student affairs professional who will serve as the Coordinator of Accessibility Services. The Coordinator will work closely with the Dean of Students and Director of Student Services to strengthen the department’s ability to provide support for students requiring special accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and increase access to external support services. The Coordinator will also serve as an academic advisor for students.
Primary responsibilities include coordinating and managing services for students with special needs in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act; providing student advisement; working with faculty on implementing and managing accommodations; providing staff and faculty training relevant to ADA; organizing programs that promote student health and wellness; and monitoring academic progress of designated students to ensure successful path to degree completion.
Minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in higher education, counseling, psychology, or social work; 2+ years experience in higher education; experience working with individuals with disabilities; demonstrated knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act; ability to plan and achieve short and long-term goals driven by the mission and goals of a department, and ability to work autonomously and in groups to achieve organizational goals. The ideal candidate must have excellent writing and problem solving skills, exceptional interpersonal skills, and experience working in a diverse cultural setting. The Coordinator will be required to work some late evenings, occasional Saturdays, and travel to the Bronx campus as needed.
