MCNY seeks a highly skilled individual to lead a progressive, dynamic and multi-campus financial aid department in order to support and expand institutional efforts to increase student success and access. The Financial Aid Counselor will report to the Director of Financial Aid. They will plan, organize and manage the operations and activities of federal, state, and institutional financial aid, monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations, access operations leading to continuous improvement, supervise, train and evaluate the financial aid staff and student workers.
Responsibilities:
- Determine financial aid eligibility and award students aid in accordance with federal, state, and institutional policies and regulations
- Counsel students and parents on all aspects of aid programs and financing options
- Manage Federal Work-Study Program and Transfer Monitoring process
- Responsible for NYS Grant (TAP, Welfare to Career, Pathways to Careers Certificate) and external scholarship processing and reconciliation
- Responsible for file retention
- Attend/host workshops and open house events for prospective and accepted students
- Other duties and projects as required
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Associates required (Bachelors preferred)
- Minimum 1-year experience working with federal financial aid programs and regulations
- Knowledge of PowerFAIDS required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Minimum 4 years direct customer service experience
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a diverse dynamic team of professionals
- Ability to meet deadlines
- On site office is at the Bronx Campus, must be able to work at multiple campuses, and off site programs as needed.
- Weekend and evening hours required
MCNY is operating in a hybrid work format as it has since July 2020. Currently, this role works at least 3 days a week from the Bronx office with up to 2 days of remote work per week.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $57K- $64K. Metropolitan College of New York considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
