MCNY seeks a Social Worker to provide direct counseling, referrals and case management for students dealing with the many demands of school and their personal lives.  Primary responsibilities include completing psychosocial assessments to identify behavioral health risk and need levels; implementing short term treatment plans and making referrals as necessary; documenting students’ progress and outcomes on a weekly basis; referring students to community based social service agencies to assist in recovery from mental or physical illness; recruiting and supervising a minimum of four social work interns for the Bronx and Manhattan locations; analyzing, monitoring, and evaluating intervention and program processes and outcomes; and working with the Assistant Director of Clinical Services to identify student trends and proactively select topics for mental health workshops.

Qualifications include a Master’s degree in social work; current NYS licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW) required LCSW preferred.  SIFI field instruction certification required to supervise MSW graduate students; five years of clinical and/or case management experience (higher education experience preferred); proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and Electronic Health Records systems; ability to maintain student confidentiality  as required by the Social Security Act and HIPAA; understanding how diversity characterizes and shapes the human experience; knowledge of the NASW Code of ethics, standards, and relevant laws and regulations; excellent interpersonal skills and able to work as part of a team; excellent problem solving and judgement skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; willing and able to work flexible hours including some early mornings, late evenings, occasional weekends, and travel to the Bronx Campus as required by student needs.
