MCNY seeks a part-time Writing Specialist for its Learning Enhancement Center in the Bronx. Primary responsibilities include tutoring students one-on-one; conducting workshops and seminars on various aspects of academic writing; providing writing and consultation services on developing instructional materials, all within the context of the LEC. The Writing Specialist will work closely with faculty and tutors to enhance writing across the curriculum and provide professional development on the enhancement and assessment of students’ writing abilities. Minimum requirements: Master’s degree in English, Composition/Rhetoric, TESOL or a related field. Relevant experience in teaching and assessing college students’ academic writing abilities. Ability to recognize various learning styles and provide constructive instruction to develop skills. Must be able to work with a diverse student population within a multicultural setting. Must be willing to work some weekends and evenings. Proficient with Microsoft Office, and experience with computer assisted writing instruction and on-line learning technologies a must.
