Philip Michael Nufrio
Dr. Nufrio is the founder of Metropolitan College of New York’s chapter of the Pi Alpha Alpha honor society. Pi Alpha Alpha is the global honor society for Public Affairs and Administration. Since the chapter’s inception Phil has seen over 500 students admitted into this national honor society. He also serves on the national Pi Alpha Alpha board for NASPAA – the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration, the global accreditor of MPA programs. In 2014 he was selected as Outstanding Pi Alpha Alpha Faculty Adviser of the year by NASPAA for his work in promoting and sustaining the scholarship of his students.
Nufrio was a full-time faculty member in three major colleges/universities in the field of business and public administration over a 30-year period. He has consulted with numerous profit and non-profit organizations in the areas of organizational change, strategic planning and post-disaster recovery. Dr. Nufrio has held leadership positions in the American Society of Public Administration. Prior to this he worked for Kaiser Permanente Health Care and the U.S. government as a management/policy analyst, including the Executive Office of the President of the United States.
Dr. Nufrio holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration from Rutgers University, and MPA from the Maxwell School, Syracuse University and a BA from Rutgers University. Dr.Nufrio holds the degree of Nidan Black Belt in the World Seido Karate organization.
