About Dr. Hamilton Raymond
A Brooklyn native, Dr. Hamilton Raymond understands firsthand the power of education to change lives. Growing up in an underserved community, he discovered a passion for learning that opened doors to opportunities and ultimately shaped his career in higher education.
As Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Success at Metropolitan College of New York, Dr. Raymond oversees admissions, the registrar, bursar, financial aid, and student success operations. His responsibilities include strengthening student recruitment, enrollment, and retention while helping more New Yorkers see higher education as an attainable goal.
A particular focus of his work has been increasing college enrollment and retention among young Black men. He explored this issue in his book, Invisible Men: Disappearance of Black Men in College, and has developed empowerment-focused recruitment initiatives designed to connect young men of color with higher education opportunities.
Through his leadership, Dr. Raymond continues to advocate for a more inclusive approach to higher education, one that recognizes students’ potential and creates opportunities for those who might otherwise be overlooked.
As he shared with City & State New York: “There is a classroom for everyone who desires to go to it.”
