Chief Development Officer, Metropolitan College of New York

New York, NY, January 3, 2019 – Metropolitan College of New York (MCNY) welcomes Mary Martel as Chief Development Officer for both the Manhattan and Bronx campuses.

Mary Martel has over twenty-three years of experience in fundraising and development in both the non-profit and for-profit sectors. Most recently, she was the Senior Director of Development at The New York Stem Cell Foundation where she was responsible for all aspects of fundraising including strategy development and implementation, donor engagement, stewardship, financial management and operations, and staff development. Previously, Mary was the Senior Director of Advancement at The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, raising funds to support medical research as well as patient education and support programs.

In the for-profit sector, Mary has had an extensive career in the financial services industry. She has held senior development roles at hedge funds, investment management firms and private banks.

Mary earned her BA in English from The College of William & Mary. An active alumna, Mary volunteers in fundraising for her alma mater. Currently, she serves on the Steering Committee of the Society of 1918 at William & Mary.

Originally from New Jersey, Mary has lived in New York City for the last 30 years. She is an avid reader, enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors.
