To the Members of the MCNY Community,
One week ago today, our country was rocked by a violent attack on our nation’s Capitol. This insurrection, led by an armed mob brandishing symbols of hate, was fomented by reckless leaders spewing false claims and outlandish conspiracy theories that have been repeatedly rejected by courts throughout the land.
These actions threaten our democracy. As educators, students, and citizens, we strive to strengthen our democracy by promoting critical thinking, vigorous and thoughtful debate, and the search for objective truth. At this crucial moment in our nation’s history, the cornerstone of an MCNY education—advancing social justice and positive change through Constructive Action—has never been more important.
As this new semester begins, I urge all of us to reaffirm our commitment to seek and expand knowledge and work together to build a stronger democracy. We stand united in our common Purpose.
Sincerely yours,
Joanne Passaro
