Spring 2022 Events

February 7, 2022
Bystander Intervention Training
We are proud to partner with the Domestic and Other Violence Emergencies (DOVE) who will bring you a Bystander Intervention Training as part of Welcome Week. At MCNY, we are committed to upholding a safe environment for all students, faculty, and staff. In the spirit of this commitment, we invite you to join us for this educational training.

Bystander Intervention is an important actionable strategy to prevent harassment and discrimination. Being an active bystander means being aware of when someone’s behavior is inappropriate or threatening and choosing to challenge it. This training seeks to empower our community with the tools to intervene and stop non-inclusive behavior before it escalates. The following is a short and non-exhaustive list of examples:

  • Microaggressions
  • Inappropriate jokes
  • Bullying
  • Biased comments

This is an opportunity to empower yourselves in addressing and preventing harassment. Participants who stay for the duration of the event will be awarded a certificate to display.
