Metropolitan College of New York Welcomes Higher Education and Financial Leader Sidney H. Evans, Jr. to Board of Trustees
July 9, 2026 – NEW YORK, NY – Metropolitan College of New York (MCNY) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Sidney H. Evans, Jr., to its Board of Trustees.
Mr. Evans currently serves as Senior Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer of the National Urban League, the nation’s oldest and largest historic civil rights and urban advocacy organization. He brings more than 40 years of executive leadership experience in higher education, nonprofit organizations, corporate finance, and public service to the MCNY Board.

Mr. Evans oversees the National Urban League’s financial strategy and capital initiatives and played a significant role in the development of the organization’s $280 million Harlem headquarters and mixed-use development, which opened in early 2025.
Previously, Mr. Evans served as Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration and Chief Operating Officer at Morgan State University, where he oversaw the University’s financial and operational functions, including an annual operating budget of more than $400 million and a five-year $886 million capital plan. He also served as Senior Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer at Howard University, Vice President for Business and Finance at Dillard University, Chief Financial Officer for the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia, and President and CEO of Madisan Mackenzie, LLC, a higher education and financial management consulting firm. His decades of experience strengthening mission-driven organizations and expanding educational opportunity reflect the values that guide Metropolitan College of New York.
Mr. Evans earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Pittsburgh. He also completed executive education programs at Harvard University Graduate School of Education and Harvard University Graduate School of Business.
