NEW YORK, NY- AUGUST 11, 2010 — Metropolitan College of New York (MCNY) announced today the hiring of Didi Lacher as its new Director of Institutional Development. The announcement was made by the school’s President, Vinton Thompson. “Metropolitan College is pleased to have a consummate professional with deep roots in the city join us in our campaign to make the College a preeminent institution in the areas that we serve,” said Thompson. “I look forward to working with her to secure resources for the enhancement of all of our programs, facilities and services to better assist our students and our communities.”
Ms. Lacher has more than 25 years of experience in the non-profit, finance and government sectors. Before joining Metropolitan College of New York, she was Director of Strategic Planning and Marketing for the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation and Director of Development for the Kaufman Center. She also worked in planned giving at UJA-Federation of New York.
She has extensive experience in finance. As Senior Vice President and manager of the Structured Finance Group of the New York branch of Landesbank Hessen Thüringen (Helaba) she expanded the German bank’s portfolio to over $2 billion of projects. Prior financial employers include The Sanwa Bank, Kansallis-Osake-Pankki and The First Boston Corporation.
Ms. Lacher has a Master of Business Administration from the Harvard Graduate School of Business, a Master of Regional Planning in public policy from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Arts from New College. She is the Second Vice President of the Board for SHARE, a nonprofit which provides support for women facing breast and ovarian cancer.
