New York, NY – March 10, 2012 – Moviemakers and MBA students collaborate once again for the Metropolitan College of New York’s 3rd Annual Media Management Short Film Festival from 6-9 p.m., April 12 and 13 and April 14 from 12-6pm in the school’s Conference Center at 431 Canal Street, New York, NY.
“New Faces in Film” is the theme for this year’s festival, which includes moderated filmmaker and movie industry panels on April 12 and 13, followed by the screening of the selected short films on April 14th. The festival, which grew out a classroom project, has crystallized into a platform for burgeoning filmmakers, and provides real time project management experience for the school’s media management MBA students. “The event continues to grow and offer opportunities to combine creative film production with the acquisition of practical business experiences in the media industries and education at the school,” says Kristie Velasco, Adjunct Professor & Coordinator, Media Management MBA Programs for MCNY.
“I am excited that the students have been successful in developing an exciting event that has become embraced by the entire MCNY community,” says Dr. Tilokie Depoo, Professor and Director of Business Programs at MCNY. “It represents an established annual opportunity for the concretization of theoretical MBA competencies by our students while it showcases the wonderful collaborative efforts of our students and the media industry.”
The event is free and open to the public. For more information please contact Sophia Atwell at 718-913-7297, satwell@iqmail.mcny.edu or Prof. Kristie Velasco at kvelasco@metropolitan.edu, (917) 719-0293. Information is also available on our school Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcnyedu.
