October 15, 2020 – As part of Hispanic Heritage Month 2020, Metropolitan College of New York’s, Emergency and Disaster Management Professor George Contreras will be honored with a Proclamation by Brooklyn Borough President, Eric Adams for his ongoing selfless work in the classroom and the Covid19 frontline. His life-saving work has taken on special meaning during the pandemic as he provides care, compassion, and hope to those affected by this public health emergency.

“At MCNY, we are proud to have faculty who are active practitioners and bring that experience to the classroom for the benefit of our students. Professor Contreras is a shining example, for students and our community, of a leader who gives everything — Leadership that inspires,” said Ali Gheith, Director of the School for Public Affairs and Administration Emergency and Disaster Management Masters Program.
