January 6, 2022

Dear Members of the Faculty and Staff,

MCNY cares about your health and the health of your loved ones. Given the increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases in the city, we have decided to move all classes online during the month of January to limit group gatherings and the number of people on campus at any one time. During this period, all campus offices will remain open, and student services will be available in-person and online. Classes that are scheduled to be on campus will resume meeting on campus on Tuesday, February 1.

Please remember to maintain social distance on campus and wear face masks at all times when not in a single office with the door closed. Meetings should be held via Zoom to the extent possible. Facilities staff will be providing KN-95 masks to offices on both campuses, as new guidance recommends these masks over cotton masks. Please contact HR if you need a mask.

It is extremely important that we do everything possible to ensure that online learning for the month of January goes well for our students.

  • Faculty, the Deans and Program Directors will be contacting each of you to assure that your Moodle shells are current and prepared for online learning in the appropriate format beginning next week. I have also asked the Director of E-Learning, Kathryn Larkins, to add a welcome page to each Moodle shell to better orient students to successful navigation of their classes. Moodle tutorials will be available to faculty and students; please contact Ms. Larkins if you need assistance.
  • Staff, your supervisors will be working with you to support this effort as relevant and to be sure you have the resources you need to maintain a safe working environment with appropriate social distance while on campus.

Thank you for doing everything possible to assure that our students have a successful semester despite the ongoing challenges of the pandemic.

With best wishes,
Joanne Passaro
President
