Metropolitan College of New York Proud to Continue Valued Partnership with
New York City Mayor’s Office Through the Mayor’s Scholarship Expansion
New York, NY/April 1, 2026 – Metropolitan College of New York (MCNY) has been selected as a partner institution in New York City’s inaugural undergraduate scholarship program for municipal employees, announced by Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani and Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) Commissioner Yume Kitasei.
The Mayor’s Scholarship Program, long recognized for supporting graduate education, now expands to include undergraduate degrees, responding to the growing demand among city employees seeking to advance their education and careers.
Through this initiative, Metropolitan College of New York will provide tuition-supported opportunities for full-time city workers pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees. Scholarships are funded directly by participating institutions, with applications open through April 27, 2026.

This milestone builds on Metropolitan College of New York’s longstanding partnership with DCAS through the Education Propelling Into Careers (EPIC) program. Initially launched as a pilot for DCAS staff and later expanded across city agencies, the program enables municipal employees to earn their high school equivalency while completing 27 college credits over four semesters. EPIC at MCNY continues and is currently in its third cohort. The first DCAS/EPIC cohort will graduate in June 2026.
With the expansion of the Mayor’s Scholarship Program, that pathway now extends further.
City employees can progress from high school equivalency to college credit and continue through associate, bachelor’s, and graduate degree completion without interruption. This structure provides a clear, well-supported path for academic progress and career advancement within New York City’s workforce.
Metropolitan College of New York’s model of Purpose-Centered Education connects academic study with professional application, allowing students to apply what they learn directly to their roles and communities. The College’s accelerated structure enables students to complete their high school equivalency, undergraduate, and graduate degrees in under five years.
The expansion of the Mayor’s Scholarship Program reflects a continued investment in New York City’s workforce, supporting employees as they build the knowledge and credentials needed to grow within their careers and serve their communities.
Metropolitan College of New York is proud to stand alongside a group of esteemed colleges and universities in this effort, united by a shared goal to expand access to higher education for those who serve our city. Together, we share a common purpose: to graduate individuals with the credentials, confidence, and drive to lead, to serve, and to create meaningful change across New York City.
