I hope this message finds you in good health and spirits. I am pleased to announce the commencement of the planning process for the Academic Master Plan (2023-2028). As we embark on this transformative journey, our collective commitment to fostering academic excellence and promoting equity, social justice, and purpose-centered education remains our guiding star.

The Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) has been instrumental in constituting three dynamic working groups that will be at the heart of the development of our Academic Master Plan:

Curriculum Re-design & Innovation

Dedicated to sculpting the future of academic pathways in Business, Human Services & Education, and Public Affairs and Administration, this group will ensure our curriculum remains forward-thinking, socially responsive, and rooted in purpose-centered education.

Teaching Excellence & Scholarship

Our objective here is to amplify teaching effectiveness, quality assurance, implement high impact practices, and bolster scholarship. This working group will also coordinate on grants, research, and scholarly pursuits within the aforementioned disciplines.

Student Engagement &
Success

The very core of our institution is our students. This group is dedicated to crafting strategies that will heighten student success encompassing areas like retention, completion, transfers, and career progression.

For those joining these pivotal working groups, this is a golden opportunity to influence the trajectory of our academic offerings and be instrumental in the success stories of our students, particularly focusing on the elevation of our student population, especially Hispanic and African American adult learners. Our united efforts will ensure an Academic Master Plan that is in perfect sync with our esteemed mission and overarching strategic objectives.

Outlined below is the timeline that charts the course of our plan’s development:

Spring 2023

Discerning the OAA’s top priorities through data collection.

Summer 2023

A meticulous SWOT analysis, formation and appointment of working groups, faculty surveys, and defining of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Fall 2023

The drafting, finalization, and endorsement of pivotal Academic Master Plan documents, along with the inauguration of a website dedicated to OAA’s Strategic Priorities & Initiatives.
