Please join us in congratulating Reverend Dr. Holly Bonner! Holly Bonner BPS’02, MPA’08 and adjunct faculty member is being honored by the New York State Optometric Association (NYSOA) with their 2021 Public Service Award for her dedication to community outreach and her ministerial efforts in making all houses of worship accessible for the blind/visually impaired.
This marks the first time that the NYSOA Public Service Award will honor an individual outside of the field of Optometry. The Award will be presented at the NYSOA’s Innovation for Vision Conference in Corning, New York on September 23, 2021. The NYSOA is dedicated to enhancing the vision care and health of the public, promoting the art and science of optometry and plays a significant role in the perception of optometry by other professions, government agencies and the public.
At the age of 32, Reverend Dr. Holly Bonner lost her eyesight to a rare complication after battling breast cancer. She has never allowed this loss to break her spirit. She found her purpose in implementing change wherever change is needed. Holly carries forward the MCNY mission of social justice in her personal life, her teachings and her ministry.
