Dear MCNY Community,
I write to share bittersweet news—our esteemed Dean, Clotilde Ibarra, has shared with me her intent to retire at the end of this month. For more than six years, Dean Ibarra has been an unwavering advocate for our students and a driving force in our community. Her leadership, dedication, and compassion have made an immeasurable impact on MCNY.
Dean Ibarra has worn many hats during her tenure, each with the same level of care and commitment. Recently stepping in as Interim Vice President of Enrollment Services and Student Affairs, she worked tirelessly to support student success and was instrumental in selecting and onboarding our new Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, Dr. Hamilton Raymond. Dean Ibarra played a pivotal role in navigating the challenges of the pandemic, serving as the point person for COVID-19 protocols while helping to transition the college to online instruction.
Dean Ibarra’s impact on Student Affairs and the lives she has touched will not be forgotten. She has mentored and nurtured countless students and staff, and she has been an integral part of making Commencement Day the unforgettable celebration it is. I am truly appreciative of Dean Ibarra, as she has been nothing short of amazing in support and leadership since the beginning of my administration.
During this time of transition, I have asked Dr. Hamilton Raymond to lead the search for a permanent placement for a candidate to lead the area of Student Affairs in the future. I want to thank the entire team in Student Affairs that continues to demonstrate excellence in moving our college forward and being the front-line responders to the many needs of our students.
Please join me in thanking Dean Ibarra for her incredible leadership, her boundless compassion, and her unwavering commitment to MCNY. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on in the countless lives she has touched. Please join me in congratulating Dean on reaching this milestone and the next chapter of her life, which, by the way, will include much-desired time to spend with her grandbabies.
With gratitude,
President Gibbs
