Shaw-naé Dixon, BPS’04, MPA’06, recently honored as a Staten Island Advance Woman of Achievement, is serving up more than just soul food—she’s dishing out an unforgettable experience! As the proud owner of Shaw-naé’s House, a cozy gem of a restaurant in Staten Island, she’s been attracting food lovers from all over the world who flock to savor her mouthwatering dishes. Every bite feels like home from Sugar Daddy Sauce crispy fried chicken wings to her signature mac and cheese.

Before becoming a culinary powerhouse, Shaw-naé earned her bachelor’s degree in Human Services from Audrey Cohen College (now Metropolitan College of New York) in 2004 and went on to receive her Master of Public Administration in 2006. A mom of six, Shaw-naé juggles family life with her successful restaurant career without skipping a beat when it comes to her passion for service in her community.

Ms. Dixon’s purpose is as rich as her cooking, blending her love for food with her heart for the community. The Lotus Bridge is a charity built by Shaw-naé for needy Staten Islanders or anyone who can use a hand. The Lotus Bridge not-for-profit’s mission is explained as “dedicated to empowering communities around the world by addressing the root causes of poverty. The Staten Island-based charity provides pantry meals to those in need and offers classes on sustainable urban farming.
