Metropolitan College of New York is honored to announce a generous $105,000 gift from Daniel Aibel, made in memory of Board Chair Emeritus John S. Rodgers. Daniel’s partner, David Pittman, is also recognized in this act of giving that speaks to the heart of MCNY’s mission.

The John S. Rodgers Scholarship Fund” has a meaningful history at the College. It was originally established through the Howard and Katherine Aibel Foundation, managed by Jonathan and Daniel Aibel, to honor Mr. Rodgers on his 90th birthday. The Aibel family created the endowed fund as a tribute to a lifelong friendship between their father and Mr. Rodgers, and to celebrate Rodgers’ deep commitment to MCNY and its students.

Today, the fund continues to open doors for undergraduate Scholars who, even with financial aid, still face significant gaps that can interrupt or derail their path to a degree. These scholarships help ensure that determination and talent—not financial hardship—guide a student’s future.

Daniel shared that he was inspired to expand the fund after reading “The Power of Purpose” and learning more about MCNY’s work in uplifting adult learners. His renewed support strengthens an endowment that honors Mr. Rodgers’ legacy and fuels the College’s commitment to educational access.

MCNY extends heartfelt gratitude to Daniel Aibel and David Pittman for investing in our Scholars and the future they are building.

Together…We Rise.
